Hidden Creatures

Hidden Creatures

  • Description
  • About the Author
  • A wildlife researcher, an animal lover and a zookeeper team up to introduce the many fascinating and lesser known species found in Singapore to the world.

Written by Singapore's bestselling author Eliza Teoh and wildlife researcher Mary-Ruth Low, and beautifully illustrated by zookeeper Qiu Quan, this enchanting and whimsical rhyming story will take readers on a journey to discover the nocturnal animals that live right among us.

  • Eliza Teoh is a Singapore Press Holding Scholar. She worked at The Straits Times as a journalist covering politics and foreign affairs (which really wasn't that fun). She later became an executive sub-editor at Today newspaper (which was quite fun because she got to boss some people around). She abandoned her journalism career to brave the unpredictable, but happy life as an author of children's books (which is very, very fun). The character Ellie Belly is inspired by her rambunctious and irrepressible daughter Ellie.

Mary-Ruth Low is a research assistant with the Evolutionary Ecology and Conservation Lab, National University of Singapore, where she studies the spatial ecology of reticulated pythons (Malayopython reticulatus) in Singapore.
