The fifth volume of poetry by one of Singaporeās most distinguished poets carries in addition several hybrid pieces that the author calls prosexcursions, and short fiction with a Catholic flavour, crucifictions. Known for the strongly spiritual nature of her writing which nonetheless achieves a universal appeal, Leeās quiet humour balances the critical irony associated with her approach to her subjects, and is applied in this collection to contemporary preoccupations with cyberspeak and the social media, taking the author into new and fascinating areas of human communication.

Anne Lee Tzu PhengĀ is one of Singaporeās distinguished poets.Ā A retired university lecturer, she has published in anthologies and journals internationally.Ā Her three volumes of poetry,Ā Prospect of a DrowningĀ (1980),Ā Against the Next WaveĀ (1988) andĀ The Brink of an AmenĀ (1991), have won awards given out by the National Book Development Council of Singapore (NBDCS).Ā She is also a recipient of theĀ Cultural MedallionĀ for literature (1985), and other awards such as the Southeast Asia WRITE Award (1987), Gabriela Mistral Award (Chile, 1995) and the Montblanc-NUS Centre for the Arts Literary Award for English poetry (1996).
